Sponsored by the Provincial Public Health Research Education & Development Program

Goal

To recognize the work of graduate or undergraduate students in applied public health research and evaluation.

Award Amount

The winner will be awarded $1,000.00, which will be presented at the OPHA Awards Luncheon. The winning student will present their paper during one of the conference concurrent sessions.

Consistent with OPHA policy, the winning student will be responsible for travel costs and student conference registration fee.

Student Award Process

  1. Students will submit an abstract to the annual OPHA conference and through the use of a check box will indicate their abstract is to be considered for the PHRED Student Award. Abstracts are due May 7, 2007.
  2. Representatives from the PHRED Program will review all graduate and undergraduate student abstracts that have been entered for the PHRED Student Award. A PHRED representative will notify the students whose abstracts have been selected for consideration. These students will be invited to prepare a written paper (2500 words) that will be due August 15, 2007.
  3. Representatives from the PHRED Program will rate the papers. The highest rated paper will be awarded the PHRED Student Award. The winner will be notified in September, and will be expected to present their paper during one of the concurrent sessions at the conference.
