Making Healthy Communities Count
Conference Goal:
To provide a forum for profiling the leading developments and topical issues facing public and community health across Ontario.
Conference Objectives
- Explore the diversity of perspectives on the public health landscape across Ontario and beyond.
- Build on our capacity as a strong, energized community and public health system.
- Strengthen the interrelationships which empower individuals and communities in the public health network.

It is suggested that applicants consider Need, Impact, Capacity, Collaboration and Partnership and the draft Ontario Public Health Standards in the submissions. Abstract submissions will be reviewed by the Abstract Committee according to the following presentation formats:
Oral Presentations
Presentations should address one or more of the Sub-themes. Presentation time should not
exceed 20 minutes, including time for questions.
Panel Discussion
Panels will be 60-80 minutes, including time for discussion and questions, and will allow a
team of presenters to provide a more in-depth exploration and discussion of the Conference
Theme and Sub-themes.
Posters
Poster presentations should address one or more of the conference Sub-themes. Each poster
will be displayed for one full day, and one author must be present with the poster 30 minutes
before the day’s program begins as well as during the breaks. Poster specifications will be
communicated to presenters upon acceptance of an abstract.
Student Submission
The PHRED Student Award, presented annually at the OPHA Conference (this year the joint conference), was created to
recognize the work of graduate or undergraduate students in applied public health research
and evaluation.
The winner will be awarded $1,000 which will be presented during the OPHA Conference
awards lunch. The winning paper will be presented during one of the concurrent sessions at

Please note: We will adhere to strict timing of all presentations and workshops.
Handouts
Presenters will be notified of the number of people who have registered for the session and
are expected to bring the required number of handouts. In addition, presenters are requested
(not mandated) to bring an electronic version of their presentation or poster, to be given to
the moderator at the conference and to be made available on the conference Website.
Conference Registration Requirement
All presenters are required to pay conference registration fees.
