‘Knowledge Translation Forum: Early Child Development Interventions in Public Health’
Note: Registration for this event is separate from the Summit registration and the form below must be completed and sent to the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools.
The purpose of this 4 hour workshop is to apply evidence-informed decisions to program planning and revision related to early child development interventions. The objectives include:
- To understand evidence-informed decision making in public health
- To know where to find high quality relevant research for early child development interventions
- To practice integrating the research evidence with other important factors that contribute to public health decisions (e.g., resources/costs; political will; community acceptability, etc.)
The target audience is public health practitioners, program managers, and staff responsible for the program planning and delivery for public health early child development initiatives. The workshop format will include large-group presentations, small-group discussion and application of evidence to a practice scenario. The workshop resource people are Dr. Donna Ciliska of the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools (affiliated with McMaster University) and Lesley Poirier and Claire Betker from the National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (affiliated with St. Francis Xavier University). The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health are funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada via Contribution Agreements with the host institutions.
